Berghain’s label, Ostgut Ton, is releasing a 20-track compilation to celebrate 16 years since the imprint’s creation. Due for release on 5th November, ‘Fünfzehn + 1’ was originally set for release in 2020 to celebrate its fifteenth year, but was postponed due to the pandemic.
The compilation features tracks from some of the club’s resident DJs and affiliates including Ben Klock, Marcel Dettmann, Avalon Emerson, Honey Dijon, Gerd Janson, Luke Slater, AtomTM, and more, and is said to take the listener on a tour of ‘five different floors’ across it’s box-set of five 12” vinyls.
Berghain reopened on October 2nd after almost two years since closing. To celebrate its comeback, the compilation will bring the essence of Berlin’s famous nightclub with ‘abstract sonic tributes’ and ‘musical homages’.
Ostgut Ton adds that the release “represents an attempt to transcend varying degrees of isolation and to wrestle with memories of music and space that had been inaccessible. But certainly not forgotten.”
