Catch up on the latest releases from artists around the world – in collaboration with Musosoup.

Latvia-born German artist Alisa Scetinina, aka Gaisma, has joined Rework (Daniel Varga & Michael Kuebler) to form their new collaborative project, Sceti. A former ballet dancer for the Stuttgarter Ballet, Scetinina now fronts this new collective, powered by Playhouse and Exlove label act Rework, as they produce music which melds together disco, new wave, indie, electro and synthpop.

The newly formed band have just shared their debut four-track EP, “Feel Alive”. Sceti craft a well rounded electronic sound, filled with dark guitars, deep basslines, and soaring melodies, as they maintain a balance between light and darkness.

The EP kicks off with the title-track “Feel Alive”, a deep-cut electronic jam, full of attitude. The deadpan vocals and rigid bassline make for a driving groove. After this standout debut EP, a first live stage show is soon to follow as Sceti have eyes on becoming one of the freshest new electronic projects of the year.

Having recently relocated from their hometown of Chicago to Portland, emerging indie-rock band Koalra release ‘Sight Unseen’, the second single from their upcoming album, out Oct 22nd on Gigantic Noise Records, titled “Love Songs to Remind Us That We Can’t Stand Each Other”.

Fusing the fuzzed-out guitars and loose rhythms of acts like Dinosaur Jr. with the experimental soundscapes of artists like Sonic Youth and The Cure, Koalra’s output is noisey yet uplifting, flooded with thrashing guitars and grungy 90s inspired melodies.

Sparked by new additions to their lineup and a new location in the create hub of Portland, Koalra have crafted the next album “Love Songs To Remind Us That We Can’t Stand Each Other” as a collection of love songs fueled by the disenchantment of our current social and political climate.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Theo Lee aka Venus As A Boy is a songwriter/producer who’s spent the last 2 years collaborating with producers and artists in LA, such as Adrian Cota, Cody Simpson, Nick Lee, Rowlan, and many more. Growing up constantly surrounded by music, he says “it has always been a staple in my life, there for me even when nothing else was.”

Written by Theo Lee and his partner Jenna Noelle, “Reaching For The Sky” is a song about pushing through your darkest moments. Theo’s upbeat, energetic drums carry Jenna’s dreamy, angelic vocals, coming together to make a hope inspiring track.

The single was made in the midst of quarantine. On that night, Theo was feeling particularly down, but pushed himself to make music anyways. In a half-asleep state, he made the beat and sent it to Jenna with no expectations. Theo woke up to a beautiful chorus of vocals and felt inspired to arrange the track over the next few days. The message of the track perfectly captures where the two artists are in their journey. They both still feel they have so much to give and all they want to do is to be able to share themselves with others and hopefully add a new color to life.

Australian-born, Berlin-based indie singer-songwriter Jackson Dyer returns with his new single ‘Losing Light’, taken from his upcoming EP.

‘Losing Light’ is an upbeat, joyful track written with fellow Berlin-based musician Florian Höfer and featuring drums from Pascal Karier. The single reflects Dyer’s move to a more collaborative approach to songwriting. Particularly in recent, more isolated times, writing with others has offered Dyer a way to connect more with other musicians and approach his music in a more open and enjoyable way. This care-free approach is evident in ‘Losing Light’, an uptempo and optimistic song.

Jackson Dyer adds: “’Losing Light’ is a song that I wrote about that sweet spot on those special afternoons with friends when everything seems to fit perfectly together, those special moments that you don’t want to end. However, time passes and then the sky starts to lose some of its colour, and I imagined this song to be focused around trying to extend that sweet spot for as long as possible, chasing the sun and demanding a few more minutes.”
