PREMIERE: Tel Aviv-Based Artist Boko Shares Bedroom-Pop EP ‘Dirty’

HITCHER presents the first listen of the new ‘Dirty’ EP from Silicon Valley born, Tel Aviv-based indie DIY artist Guy Bokobza aka Boko.

Boko wrote, produced and performed the whole EP at home in his bedroom with minimal studio equipment, his guitar, and a $30 dynamic mic. Over 2 years, he created the 8-track release as a collection of intentionally unpolished, rough and harsh songs, explaining: “they are diamonds in the ruff!”. Boko sees his music as validation in becoming a self-sufficient artist and as an opportunity to color everything in his aesthetic, with some things being best left bare and vulnerable; real and unfiltered.

“This EP is about honesty, express yourself, do it yourself. Paint a picture with your words, Exploration, hornyness, loneliness, angst. My faults, my apologies. My urge to share… Maybe over-share.”

Having previously released the washed out bedroom-pop/hip hop love song ‘Mood 4 Luv (ft. Minny Juno)’ with accompanying visuals from Alba Melis, the EP features the latest singles ‘Miss u so’ and ‘Vegan’s Interlude’.

Speaking on the visuals for ‘Vegan’s Interlude’, Boko explains that for years, he had been following the character that is Abe Dubin on social media. He was fascinated by the influencer’s ability to change the way that skateboarding is viewed and what it means to be a professional. Boko says he was honored that the collaboration came to life and added: “with creativity bursting out the seams, Abe was a perfect fit for the project in creating and the song he helped visualise.

The ‘Dirty’ EP is a well-rounded collection of rough DIY tracks, marking a step forward for a young artist who is looking to carve a place for himself as a creative coming out of Israel and sharing his experience with the world.
