Watch The Trailer For The New Documentary On The Velvet Underground

Director Todd Haynes presents the first major film to tell the story of one of the most iconic bands in history, The Velvet Underground. The film centers around the 1960s New York arts scene that helped influence a new wave of avant-garde music. Described as a ‘revelatory portrait of artistic cross-pollination’, the documentary features archival footage and interviews with founding member John Cale, as well as rare Velvet Underground tracks that will also be featured on an accompanying soundtrack.

“I didn’t need to make a movie to tell you how great the band is.. There were a lot of things I was going to be, like, ‘OK, we know this.’ Let’s get right to how this happened, this music, where these people came from and how this miracle of this group of people came together.” – Todd Haynes

The documentary is set for release on Apple TV on 15th October 2021.
