Today, Manchester-based collaborators ZULA & glue70 share their latest single, titled ‘Elevate Me’ from their upcoming ‘SKIN44’ EP. The single marks their first release on newly launched independent label Havêa Records from Berlin.
The duo of Xenya Genovese aka Freak Slug and Majestic Casual producer glue70 is said to have been forged in the small hours following big nights, the quiet time of cocooned downtime and amongst the lived hours soaking up inspiration from their home city of Manchester. It is a project born of experimental experiences.
This experimental nature is evident in the cohesion of their lo-fi, yet highly curated production and vocal styles. With ZULA’s sweet topline reminiscing on friendship shining over glue70’s buttery synth lines and glitchy percussion. ZULA adds: “‘Elevate Me’ is about being there for a friend in need, someone who needs an elevating touch.”
Having already received support from BBC Radio, Arlo Parks and Complex among others, the pair are a promising act to follow with the release of their upcoming EP. Keep up with them below.
