PREMIERE: LUPE Shares “Lucky Bass” From Upcoming EP

Lupe has commanded dance-floors around the globe, and has rightfully cemented himself as a key-figure in his hometown dance scene. Growing up, Lupe’s passion for music was ignited, when his parents gifted him “Acid House,” a compilation vinyl released on the label Jack Trax. From then his love for electronic music and its scene only grew.

“The dance floor has always been a place of self-development, safety and fun for me. I dedicate my life to that timeless energy”

At the age of 16, Lupe became a go-go dancer, stepping further into the electronic scene to fulfill his desire to learn everything there was to know about the sound, its producers, its labels and more. As his collection of music continued to grow, so did Lupe’s passion to lead his peers on a journey to a new reality; on a spaceship fueled by euphoric rhythms and energetic bass and piloted with love, tolerance and respect.

“I bring a new identity for dance, for men and women, straight and gay, black and white and so on. There is nothing to be scared of in each other. Nightlife is the designated area to overcome our differences in daily life, where we see each other freely in a new light.”

In his latest EP, ‘Come Through,’ set to release on the 10th of June, Lupe’s Inspiration derived from his love of Film and Television really shines. The project teems with nostalgia, reminiscent of the analogue television broadcasting era. From the uplifting violin in “Into to heaven”, to the Sci-fi pads of “Catwalk Trax,” Lupe’s “Come Through,” not only showcases distinctive elements of Acid House, but also elevates them through the presence of these characteristics. As if it pays homage to the 70-90s, the Era in which Acid house was built.

The EP opens with the title track “Come Through”, whose beauty can be felt in the intersection of the groovy baseline and hypnotic vocals, that decorate the complex drum patterns and distorted, high-frequency textures underneath. The repetitive baseline lends itself to the songs hypnotism, keeping the audience entranced while Lupe’s audaciously seductive vocals lure listeners to give in to the music. All the while, it is his use of complex drum patterns to inject energy and tension into his music that is the highlight of this track. The combination of rapid fire snares, shimmery open-hats, and a thick, thumping kick, is bound to raise your heart-rate and get you moving. In “Lucky Bass,” the 3rd track of the upcoming EP, listeners are taken on a darker journey.

Every pulse of bass and snap of the snare, injects a dose anxiety into the track, a sensation that Lupe relentlessly continues to build upon with each added element. Even when the sci-fi arpeggiated synths or the ominous pads, that swell before each climax, dissipates; Lupe uses an eerie distorted vocal sample to keep the adrenaline pumping in your body and the song. Together, these elements create a heart-racing and thrilling experience perfect the Darker Arenas of the Berlin Scene.
