HITCHER PRESENTS: Sega Bodega – Romeo: The Final Act | Metropol, Berlin

Irish-born, London-based producer, performer and label boss Sega Bodega has built a reputation as one of the UK’s most innovative and futuristic creative minds. He soundtracked some of the most important cultural moments between pop culture and product marketing, and as co-owner and main producer of the London-based NUXXE label, created a unique catalog of works beyond all genres and subcultures. Long active in the background as a barely visible but essential entrepreneur, Sega Bodega has been increasingly in the spotlight as a songwriter and singer himself for the past two years, giving his futuristic-abstract electronic music a deeply human face. Until now, it has been rather rare for him to transfer this music into a direct concert setting – which is why his exclusive Germany concert on November 28 in Berlin can undoubtedly be called a special event.

For nearly a decade, Sega Bodega has been a leader in producing underground electronic music that borders on pop. Inspired by the trip hop of the 1990s as much as the British club culture of the new millennium and the postmodern hyperpop of the present, his experimental productions create a deconstructed electronic cyberpop that is at once abstract and inviting. Inspired by his network of no less progressive artists from various creative disciplines, but equally animated by his love of cinematic soundscapes, he influences music, fashion and film – usually as the “brain in the background”. NUXXE, the London-based collective he co-founded in 2016, hosts forward-thinking artists Shygirl, Coucou Chloe and Oklou, among others, while his production credits include similarly individual artists Brooke Candy, Zebra Katz, Dorian Electra and Eartheater. All the while, the raging demand for his production skills prevented him for years from realizing the idea he’d had since 2014 of his own conceptually mature solo album; instead, he released seven highly diverse EPs in seven years, but took them as little more than snapshots and sketch collections.

We are giving away 2x Double Passes to see the only German show, at Metropol, Berlin on 28th November. For your chance to see the rare performance, like and share via Instagram.
