DARK MATTER Opens SOMMERLIGHTS 2023 with “TENSOR”

DARK MATTER re-opens its 1000m2 outdoor space in 2023 with SOMMERLIGHTS and the premiere of “TENSOR”; a multi-sensory installation by created by German light artist, Christopher Bauder and British musician and composer, Akiko Haruna.

TENSOR, the mathematical term that describes a function that relates different objects in a multidimensional space, is a living artwork changing at every moment in shape, frequency and sound. More than 400 lights create a 3-dimensional cloud that floats above the audience to a blend of cinematic sound design, electronic music and sonic landscapes composed by Haruna.

Christopher Bauder, the brain behind SOMMERLIGHTS 2022’s gravity defying 16-meter, upside down, pyramid of light; has an affinity for pushing the boundaries of reality and transporting attendees to an alternate dimension. His globally renowned installations have been seen by audiences from Montreal to Beijing. Bauder and Haruna’s aligning interests in exploring emotion and perception, seems to be the connecting thread of TENSOR. Haruna, a producer, vocalist and performer, is known for their boundary pushing productions that seek to bend sonic principles and explore gender, race and heritage through music.

TENSOR promises to be nothing short of an extraordinary experience, a place to lose yourself in this dimension and find yourself in another. “TENSOR marks a journey into the unknown, where you can see, hear and feel the unexpected. It is a technological adventure that challenges the senses and the mind.”

TENSOR will run from the 26th of May – 2nd of September. Tickets are just 10 EUR, with admission at 20:00 from Thursday to Sunday.
