PREMIERE: Frank Lee Shares ‘Shortcut (ft. J.Lamotta)’ From Upcoming EP

Today, HITCHER presents the premiere of the new single ‘Shortcut (ft. J.Lamotta)’ from Berlin-based Australian multi-instrumentalist and artist Frank Lee‘s upcoming ‘Taken’ EP.

On ‘Shortcut’, Frank Lee takes influence from unquantized, diverse and rhythmically driven Black-American beat music, reflecting contemporaries like Theo Parrish, Madlib, Dilla and Moodymann. Enlisting the dreamy and subtle vocal talents of Tel Aviv/Berlin-based Moroccan producer and artist J.Lamotta, Frank Lee blends genres to create grooves that don’t make sense, but feel good. The music is raw, lo-fi and expressive; blending Frank Lee‘s wide musical knowledge with contemporary styles of sampling to create cerebral soulful house for the club or the locked-down living room.

“This song’s been a long time in the making. I spent a while getting the drums to hit so that they complement the mood and vibe of J.Lamotta‘s vocals. The song is structured as a dialogue between the vocals and the synthesizers. They each get a turn taking a verse before finishing the song together 🙂 Hope you feel the track.”Frank Lee
