In support of the ‘Beat Theme’ album, released on his label, Arte Sonata, on June 16, Tokyo-native beat-maker Sweet William has shared an exclusive playlist for HITCHER. The playlist features some of the tracks that inspire his production, ranging from hip-hop to jazz and Japanese pop.
The ‘Beat Theme’ album is made up of 14 eclectic tracks drawing on classic Japanese sounds for inspiration, mixing deep, low-slung beats with laidback percussive styles. Inspired in part by late 90’s hip-hop, ‘Beat Theme’ exemplifies the subtlety and sophistication of Sweet William‘s craft – with samples from classic Japanese songs as well as 90’s era video games, fusing a sense of nostalgia with hip-hop to create something exciting and unique.
